gradient poster paragraph

I thought this assignment was really frustrating. Everybody learns a different way but this was not an easy way for me to learn. In some places it didn't even explain how to do it it just told you to do it and i thought that was really frustrating.
I learned how to make a selection outside of the elliptical tool and how to put a stroke around stuff. I hope that this stuff will help me in the future. Even though it was hard it turned out really good i think.

Thankful Poster

I think it has nice balance cause all the pictures work and fit together to make the poster. There also symmetrical balance cause there are three pictures on each side but the are different sizes so that adds something i think. I think that all the colors of text contrast the background colors and help them stand out. The repeating elements are the bight colors and patterns of the pictures. I think the proportion of the pictures and how they are different gives it a asymmetrical sort of look. I didn't really have a main focus everything is equally important. I think the unity in this picture is nice and all the picture fit together to make it one.

Principles of Design Poster Critique

The Office
-The theme of the poster goes along really well with the show and the idea of it, everybody looking bored or annoyed with the main guy.
-The sticky notes are centered and go along with the office theme.
-The title contrasts the black and stand out on the poster.
- The poster just represents the show really well and i think thats what makes it so good.

Helvetica Documentary

Last week in class we watched a documentary about the font helvetica. I learned that typography is a much bigger deal than i thought. The little posters and signs that i see every day have so much time and effort put into them. The process that things go through to become what they are is amazing and its got me looking at  fonts and signs a little differently now that i know how much thought is put into them. Some people really like how original and simple helvetica is and other people think its boring and it blends in. I think that it can look simple and strong but most of the time i don't think its cute or out there enough.
It can be really cool just by itself without pictures and its easy and simple to read on signs and stuff. Now that I see how many cool things you can do with text and how powerful words can be i'm going to try to make my work as cool as theirs.

This exercise was a really fun. I thought the drawing was really cool and i know alot more about layer order and stuff after doing this project. The hardest part out of all of it was the lines, on the net, it took me a long time to figure out how to do them and then when i did it was a long process. But i really like the final outcome, i think it all looks really good and neat and me.

Brick wall self portrait

In this exercise we had to put a picture of ourselves on a different background. First we used the brush tool to take out all the green and then we added the brick wall picture as the background. Next we tried to blend in all the green and make it look natural and not photoshopped. Lastly we just corrected all the things we didn't like in the picture, like the levels and our skin. I chose to make my picture lighter so you can't see what a bad picture it really is.

In this exercise we had to use the clone tool to get rid of unwanted things in the picture.
We had to take out a bunch of tree branches and then change the lighting so it wasn't as obvious that we cropped things out of it.

tonal values-is the light or dark of a color independent of its chromaticity (hue and chroma).
Crop- cutting out unwanted parts of the picture.
Retouching-making changes to the picture such as lighting changes.

I learned that retouching a picture can totally change it. and you can manipulate it to make it look exactly how you want it to. How you crop a picture can change the main focus of the picture and how someone looks at it. I like the coloring in my photo because it does not look like a normal picture, and i think it's cool looking.
i chose to retouch my picture like this because i like the way it looks light and kinda weird instead of just like a regular picture.

Balance- I think that the trees in this picture show the balance because they pretty much go all along the back.
Proportion- This picture has good proportion, i don't think anything has the main focus you just see it all at once.
Rhythm- I think the rhythm in this picture comes from the water because you can kind of see the current/ flow of it if you look towards the back.
Emphasis- I think the focus in this picture is the water because its in the middle and you can see the reflection of everything in the picture in the water.
Unity- This picture is a very good example of unity because there are mainly the same 2 colors in the picture.

Flower

I chose to crop the picture like this because i wanted to see the rings, the flower, and the envelope together. I cut out the sides because i wanted the flower to be the main focus in the picture and I made the picture lighter because i think it makes it glow kinda. I like the way the flower and the rings blend into the white but the red stands out. I think the light shades make it look happy and that the light pink petals are very cute.

Video Tutorials

In the first video i  learned about the basics like how to open a file, make a text, change the settings of the text, and save the file. In the second video i basically learned what all the different tools are on the side and how to use them in the picture. The third video went into detail telling about every single tool in the tool palette and the different things that they do. The first two were pretty interesting and easy to follow but the third one was very hard to follow and pay attention to. I feel like i would have learned more if i would have been doing it too.
